Interview with Cecilie Johansen
by METRO Model Agency Zurich
Zurich, Switzerland, November 2015
When did you start modelling and how?
I was scouted when I was 15 years old, in Copenhagen. A woman was looking at me for a very long time, I first thought something was wrong. She then finally came over and asked me about some personal details such as height etc. She then continued to the last question, which was; “if I ever thought being a model”. All happened very quickly after that, because then, two days later, I signed an international contract, and went straight to Paris, for the fashion week.
What are your hobbies?
I like discovering and exploring the world by travelling around. I also love playing the guitar, being creative and social.
So what was the first thing you learned as a model?
You can be quite lonely sometimes, but on the other hand you get to meet a lot of new people. It was hard at first, but I learned a lot from the experience.
Do you find it easy to keep a work-life balance?
Yes, I enjoy every shoot I go to. As modelling has become a quite big part of my life. Especially being creative and seeing the great results.
Have you got used to the fact that you don’t really know what you’re going to be doing in the next three days?
Yeah, I live from day to day. As in fact it is also very exciting, because you never know what the next day will bring.
Who have been your icons/idols?
It actually has always been my family, because they supported me from the second I was born.
Do you collect all the magazines you’re in?
I try to collect most of them, because the result is always interesting to see.
When traveling what are the five items you must bring?
I bring my passport, some money, my favourite clothes, an ipad and some shoes.
What’s your favourite / most memorable direction a photographer has ever given to you?
They once told me, that I look most beautiful, when I’m being myself.
If you had to wear only one designer who would it be?
That’s a tough one, but I think I will go with Valentinos collections.
What advice would you pass along to those starting out in the modelling business?
Always remember who you are and take traveling as an personal experience and learn by other people.
Thank you for your time, Cecilie, and we hope to see you again soon in Zurich, Switzerland, at our modeling agency.
