Josiane Monteiro is a beautiful fashion model who is proud of her curls. She is a 5’11 model who knows how to carry herself with grace and festivity. Her dark brown hair and brown eyes make her appear as a divinity.
She wasn’t always proud of her curls and when she was 16, she used to put chemicals in her hair and it led to her hair not having any shape. Josiane used to wear her hair in a ponytail as it had been damaged due to the chemicals. However, she is a model who has learned from her mistakes and has taken care of her hair. This has led to her hair becoming better than ever before and having a glowing-like texture that fashion houses and labels seem to love.
Natural hair was something that Josiane always had but she never did an Afro as she was afraid that her friends would make fun of her. This is what led her to put chemicals in her hair when she was 16 and it only worked for about two months, but after that the hair got damaged and she had to cut it really short.
Ana Sofia Martins is a beautiful curly hair that Josiane saw. She is from Portugal and Josiane liked the way that Ana rocked her hair, it made her feel good about herself. This is where she fell in love with Afro hair and gained the confidence needed to rock them on her own.
Josiane Monteiro believes that the hardest part of transitioning to her natural hair has been taking care of it and looking for the products that suit her best. Now, Josiane is not always worried about her curls being in perfect shape. However, she keeps her Afro round as it looks better this way and casting directors, as well as photographers seem to agree with her decision.
A secret which she believes every curly haired person should know is that it is vital to deep condition the hair once a week as it helps keep the hair looking healthier. Josiane has been a part of the back to our roots movement which she finds to be empowering for black girls that have straight hair as well as they should see that natural hair is amazing.
Some of the products which Josiane simply cannot live without include Novex deep conditioner, olive oil and coconut oil. She believes that one of the worst mistakes which she had made had been straightening her hair as she had to chop them off later and it led to her hair becoming a mess. Josiane simply could not deal with it anymore. However, it led to her curls coming back even healthier and prettier than they had been before.
An advice she lives by is to never cut your hair on your own or ask someone that does not know how to properly deal with natural hair to do the job.
Josiane Monteiro believes in embracing your naturally curly hair and body because that is what makes one beautiful. Her confidence and acceptance of who she is, is what has led to her instant growth.
