Neural networks, artificial intelligence, 3D prints and robots - technologies that recently seemed possible only in the distant future are already being actively used in all spheres of life. The fashion industry, as one of the most influential spheres on the planet, is actively using modern developments in fashion design. From apps that work in real time to the use of robots as models, read which brands are using technology at their fashion shows.

Badgley Mischka
During the Badgley Mischka Fall'18 ready-to-wear show, the Badgley Mischka brand teamed up with SAP. Especially for the show, they released the SAP Badgley Mischka Runway app, available exclusively for iPhone and iPad, which allowed viewers of the show to vote for the best outfits of the collection in real time. In addition, the app featured exclusive details of each look. Using the like and love buttons, viewers provided the brand with unique analytics of the show, which the brand used for further designs.

Ralph Lauren
In September 2018, during New York Fashion Week, the Ralph Lauren brand held a show in the heart of New York City's Central Park. Designer Ralph Lauren took the guests of the show on a journey through the history of the fashion house. Especially for the show, huge digital displays were installed above the catwalk, which showed the most memorable archival collections of the brand. In addition, the designer launched an app with insider information about the brand and exclusive content.

Honee
In September 2018 at London Fashion Week, a robot took to the catwalk during the brand's Honee show. Developed by Silicon Valley-based robotics firm OhmniLabs and blockchain platform Kambria, it was fully adorned with crystals and wore a tablet as its head.

Balenciaga
For the 2018 spring/summer collection show, the Balenciaga brand created a 360-degree kaleidoscopic tunnel on the runway designed to replicate the inner workings of a computer. Depending on the models' walk down the runway, the image changed color and speed of playback. In addition, some items were decorated with Powerpoint Clip Art and Comic Sans effects.

Issey Miyake
During the SS 2020 show of Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake, models were dressed by drones. The models came on the catwalk in lingerie and in the middle of the runway drones put clothes on them. The outfits came straight down from the ceiling as fabric linings stretched over metal hoops, where the models waited below with their arms stretched upwards. The collection was created by the brand's new lead designer Satoshi Kondo. The designer's goal was to create an atmosphere of fun.
