Balenciaga's first couture show in 53 years.
Haute couture week is well underway in Paris and is without a doubt one of the highlights of the fashion calendar. Although fashion weeks are still marked by the pandemic, we can rejoice that physical displays are slowly beginning to return.
Yesterday, Demna Gvasalia was able to show off her very first couture collection for Balenciaga. It has been a full 53 years since the Spanish fashion house last had a couture show, with the then founder Cristóbal Balenciaga at the helm.
On the catwalk for Balenciaga was Norwegian model Inti Wang.
Norwegian model Inti Wang is no stranger to working with the French fashion house. In 2019, he made his debut for Balenciaga on the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week.
The following year, he represented Balenciaga again. Then acted as a character in a computer game for the AW’21 collection, which was named Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow in collaboration with the electric car brand Polestar.
This time it is extra special, as part of the prestigious show.

Balenciaga's couture show excelled in several areas.
Although Gvasalia has in many ways drawn inspiration from the fashion house's previous shows and traditions, he made a number of new, clever moves this time.
Among other things, the catwalk was very diverse, with models of all ages.

Kamala Harris' stepdaughter also appeared on the catwalk.
Following the inauguration of Joe Biden as President of the United States in January, it wasn’t just the incoming President who received attention.
Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, made her modeling debut shortly afterwards when she was signed to the prestigious modeling agency IMG.
Now the 22-year-old has appeared on the catwalk for Balenciaga.
