Hoyt Richards is an American actor and model born on 10th April 1962 in Syracuse, New York. In the 1980s and 1990s, Richards was a famous model who appeared in various ad campaigns including Ralph Lauren, Versace, Burberry, Cartier, Dunhill, Valentino, Donna Karan, and Gianfranco Ferre. He worked with plenty of photographers such as Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, Albert Watson, Horst, Helmut Newton, and Bruce Weber.
Hoyt was in last in of high school when he got a scholarship that transferred him to England. After being educated in the 6th form of English public school Haileybury, he went to Princeton. In 1985, he graduated from the University with a degree in Economics. He played varsity football and got injured. For treatment, he went to New York. There he was spotted by a casting director. He met the agency and started his modeling career. His career lasted for 15 years and during his career, he did more than 200 ads and plenty of commercials.
After all these years, he is still modeling. This is why he has signed up with several modeling agencies. His recent jobs include an editorial for IO Donna Magazine in 2010. This editorial was named Former Super Male Models and was photographed by Andrea Gandini. In 2018, he was featured in an ad for Lancome.
Later in the 1990s, he wanted to pursue his acting career. So, he moved to Los Angeles from New York. His first film was with Anne Heche and Harrison Ford. This was a comedy movie titled “Six Days, Seven Nights”. After that, he has starred in over 15 independent films. Some of the movies were award-winning like Hit and Runway, The Discipline, and Taxi Dance.
In 2005, he started his production company as he was also a screenwriter. The name of his company is Tortoise Entertainment. It produces a documentary, television, and film projects. In 2014, Dumbbells, a comedy written and starred by Hoyt was released.
