The Princess of Wales often chooses significant jewelry for high-profile events, including many that belonged to Princess Diana. Over the years, Kate has also borrowed some pieces from Queen Elizabeth II's jewelry vault, including the monarch's Silver Jubilee earrings, which the then Duchess of Cambridge wore after the birth of Prince Louis in 2018.
After Queen Elizabeth's death in September 2022, the Princess wore a number of touching jewels belonging to Her Majesty, including those for the coronation of King Charles III. Most recently, on Remembrance Sunday, the royal wore a pair of leaf-shaped earrings with diamonds and pearls that had previously been spotted on the Queen during a visit to Nigeria in 2003.
Below are all the pieces from the late monarch's jewelry collection that Kate has worn over the years:
Diamond and pearl leaf earrings: On Memorial Sunday this year, Kate debuted a pair of diamond and pearl leaf earrings previously seen on the Queen during a visit to Nigeria in 2003. Some experts believe the earrings could have been detachable pieces of the brooch with the same design.
Festoon necklace: Commissioned by King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II's Festoon necklace features 105 loose diamonds that her father inherited when he ascended the throne. Featuring three strands, the monarch has worn it on numerous occasions throughout her life, from attending state banquets to posing for official portraits. The Princess of Wales paid tribute to His late Majesty by wearing the dress for the official coronation photo when King Charles III officially took the throne on May 6.
The three-strand pearl necklace: The Princess of Wales wore Queen Elizabeth II's three-strand pearl necklace - an item Her Majesty was famous for - during a luncheon at Buckingham Palace for the governors-general of the Commonwealth nations before the monarch's funeral in September 2023.
The necklace from the Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar: The then Princess Elizabeth received this stunning Cartier diamond necklace from the Nizam of Hyderabad as a wedding gift in 1947. Featuring a rose motif, the necklace was chosen by the queen herself, along with a matching floral tiara. The Princess of Wales first wore this jewelry at a gala for the National Portrait Gallery in 2014, before wearing it again at a reception at Buckingham Palace for the Diplomatic Corps in 2019.
Silver Jubilee Diamond and Pearl Earrings: Queen Elizabeth II was first photographed wearing these diamond and pearl earrings during her Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years of her reign, in 1977. Kate has sported these earrings several times in the past, including after the birth of Prince Louis in 2018 and during a visit to Commonwealth troops before the Queen's funeral.
The four-strand pearl and diamond choker: In the early 1980s, Queen Elizabeth II commissioned Royal Jeweler Garrard to make this four-strand pearl and diamond choker, using pearls from Japan. Princess Diana was loaned it for a state banquet in honor of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands in 1982, while the current Princess of Wales has worn the necklace on several occasions, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary in 2017 and Her Majesty's funeral in 2022.
Emerald tassel earrings: The Princess of Wales presented the Queen Elizabeth II emerald and diamond earrings at an evening reception in Jamaica in 2022, along with a matching bracelet. Both pieces belong to Her Majesty's suite of emerald tassels, which the monarch first wore at a state dinner held for Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates at Claridge's Hotel in London in 1989.
Diamond and pearl leaf brooch: First worn by Queen Elizabeth II in the 1990s, the Princess of Wales has borrowed Her Majesty's diamond and pearl brooch over the years, including on a commemorative visit to the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium in 2017. Kate wore the brooch in tribute to the monarch during the funeral procession at Westminster Hall in September 2022.
Sapphire and diamond earrings: The Princess of Wales borrowed Queen Elizabeth's sapphire and diamond earrings for a visit to Edinburgh in 2021. The sapphire earrings are part of a suite of sapphire and diamond jewelry by Asprey, which Her Majesty added to her collection in the late 1970s.
Bahrain Pearl Earrings: Featuring two pearls given to Her Majesty by the Hakim of Bahrain as a wedding gift, these diamond and pearl earrings were also worn by Princess Diana in the 1980s. The Princess of Wales was first spotted wearing these earrings during the Remembrance Day ceremony in 2016, before wearing them for Trooping the Colour in 2019 and for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
