Highlights of the week: Kelly Rowland and Bruno Mars collections, Chanel's beauty app and the first hotel in space
It's been an eventful week, but we've selected the most important ones for you. What happened during the week? Kelly Rowland presented a new collection, Bruno Mars started a collaboration with Lacoste, Chanel developed an app that helps to match lipstick shades, and the first hotel in space will open in 2027.

Kelly Rowland created a shoe collection
The year 2021 was a time of new beginnings for Kelly Rowland. In January, she gave birth to her second child, recorded a song, made a video and celebrated her 40th birthday and debuted a chic line of shoes and clothing.

"My grandmother used to say: 'You've failed if you don't even try,'" Rowland shared with Vogue magazine's editorial board.

Since the pandemic began, Rowland has had a shift in priorities. As a mom working on several projects, she began to realize how much people value comfort and made sure her first collection focused on comfort. The line features 7 shoe options, including Greek-inspired sandals, high-heeled mules with a square toe and braided details, and espadrilles with long leather straps.

In addition to shoes, the collection also includes jackets with sharp shoulders, knitted dresses and narrow trench coats. The color palette comes in shades of black, cream, red and olive. "It's that timeless '90s style," says Kelly Rowland.

The singer herself starred in the ad campaign for her collection while eight months pregnant along with models Nijor Paul, Diana Veras and Pritika Swarup.

Bruno Mars is creating a clothing line for Lacoste
Bruno Mars claims that fashion brands have wanted to collaborate with him for years. But it was Lacoste creative director Louise Trotter who finally got through and sealed the deal.

"Louise called me and begged me," Mars told Vogue with a smile, adding that he was actually a big fan of Lacoste when he was a kid. - If you came to school and you had a crocodile logo on your chest, it meant something."

Bruno Mars wanted whoever wore the clothes he created to feel like the coolest guy at the party. The collection of clothes, shoes and accessories was inspired by the 70s. It will be unveiled on March 5.

Mars also shared the revelation that the design process is not so different from writing music: "When I write a song, it's about emotion: how do I want people to feel? I approach clothes in the same way: how do I want to feel when I put this jacket on?".

The first hotel in space will open as early as 2027
Orbital Assembly plans to launch construction of the first hotel in space in 2025. It will be a Voyager station located in Earth orbit overlooking the Earth. The hotel is designed as a rotating ring with attached capsules consisting of rooms. The station, which can accommodate 400 guests, will also have movie theaters, bars, a spa complex and a gym.

In addition, Orbital Assembly claims that modules of the hotel will be available for purchase and can be furnished with their own apartments or training centers for government agencies.

The hotel complex will rotate around the Earth every 90 minutes. Thus artificial gravity will be created.

Venice canals dry up
Venice's canals have dried up for the second time in three years. Gondolas are stuck in dried up canal beds after Venice's waters dropped nearly 50 centimeters below sea level. In 2018, water levels fell even lower. But the all-time record was in 2008 when it reached minus 84 centimeters. The reason for this is the Italian dry weather and infrequent rainfall.

Some of the water transportation that Venice relies on was rendered useless. Locals, on the other hand, were able to see algae and mollusks living on the walls of buildings that are usually partially underwater.

Chanel has launched an app to help pick the perfect lipstick shade
The Chanel brand has launched Lipscanner by Chanel, a free app that gives users the ability to pick a lipstick shade based on a photo. Lipscanner will recognize the color and then suggest several options for the closest shade from the more than 400 shades the brand has available.

Users can try the matched shade on themselves online. But that's not all. The app also selects the most successful lipstick texture: matte or glossy finish, satin or metallic.

The plane had to land because of a cat attacking the pilots
An airplane can be forced to land for a variety of reasons, from engine failure to a passenger mistakenly opening the doors. However, this time something special happened.

A passenger plane was forced to return to the airport in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, after an angry cat attacked the pilots in the cockpit. After nearly a half-hour flight, the unwelcome guest climbed into the cockpit and began attacking first them and then the entire crew. When no one could cope with the ferocious beast, the pilot gave up and decided to turn around to make an emergency landing, local press reported.

Although everyone landed safely and no one was injured, it is still unclear how the animal got into the cockpit. It is speculated that it may have happened during a cleaning or engineering inspection.
