Chanel launches a new series of cultural podcasts

French fashion house Chanel has launched "Chanel Connects," a podcast series featuring talent from film, art, architecture, dance, music and fashion for intimate conversations about the future of culture.

The podcast series is designed to bring creative minds together to address the unique challenges of 2020 and introduce new cultural trends for 2021. Chanel representatives call the new times a "radically changed world," which means old solutions and approaches no longer work.

Podcast participants include actors Tilda Swinton and Keira Knightley; musician, designer and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams; filmmakers Lulu Wang, Garrett Bradley and Eliza Hittman; artists Arthur Jafa and Jennifer Packer; designer S. Devlin; dance and artistic director Akram Khan; ballerina Tamara Rojo; editorial director Edward Enninful; creative consultant and writer Amanda Harlech; and curator Andrew Bolton.

Designer (and not-so-designer) outfits at Joe Biden's inauguration
20/01
Joe Biden's presidential inauguration was the first most talked about fashion event of 2021. The fashion community passionately discussed the outfits in which politicians and stars appeared at the event.

First Lady Jill Biden wore a blue coat and handmade dress by new New York-based brand Markarian.

Vice President Kamala Harris wore a Christopher John Rogers outfit with pearls by Wilfredo Rosado brand.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama wore a monochrome plum outfit by Sergio Hudson, which consisted of a turtleneck, wide leg pants, coat and belt to match.

Jennifer Lopez attended the ceremony with fiancé Alex Rodriguez. Her outfit consisted of a white Chanel suit from the fall 2020 collection and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Lady Gaga's boyfriend Michael Polanski also accompanied the sweetheart, and photographers managed to catch a cute moment when Gaga and Polanski kissed during the event without removing their masks. Gaga, who sang the National Anthem, wore a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown.

Weinstein Co. to pay $17 million in sexual assault lawsuits

Harvey Weinstein's accusers will receive $17 million as part of a plan to liquidate the Hollywood mogul's company. The Weinstein Co sold its assets to Lantern Entertainment, which later became Spyglass Media Group, for $289 million after filing for bankruptcy in 2018. The bankruptcy was triggered by allegations of sexual harassment by company founder Harvey Weinstein. The movie producer is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a former assistant and raping an actress. The court ordered the creation of a $17.1 million fund to be distributed proportionally among more than 50 victims of sexual assault as compensation.

However, it wasn't the designer outfits that blew up the internet, but Bernie Sanders' knitted mittens at President Biden's inauguration. His mittens, folding chair, and nonchalant stare has sent people around the world wild, who can't stop posting hilarious memes about his outfit and sitting posture.
